I dont see any crash or instability. It never lost a connection in my FICS game.

Can you add Stockfish to it? Otherwise, its all good.

Recommend to purchase this app. One thing its missing is the ability to host a remote engine. Stockfish has it. Can you do it?

The design of the new app is a million times better in my opinion than say "Master Chess", and it’s great that they really paid attention to making interactivity a priority when designing it.

...then play through different scenarios. As of Nov 2013, dev hasnt updated in months. After several tries, I finally got it to load a saved pgn file and play through. Too much effort, though, for something that should have worked the first time.

I have really enjoyed this! Works perfectly is smart and smooth. Great for improving your game esp., if you are a casual player but aspire to be rated one day.

Easy to use and great practice tool.

Simple clean look. Lots of options and game modes with easy to navigate menus. Would just like to add a hint button. Still learning but dont want to arrows giving hint on each move, only when Im in a jam.

Been wondering what to do with my iPhone 3 until I returned to studying books like The Worlds Greatest Chess Games and 500 Master Games of Chess. Couldnt always remember the book position when I played out variations. Smallchess Pro is great for that.

This app is the best. Not only it has trainings, it has coaching and many many more. it has to be one of the best chess app. I like guess the move where I partner with Carlsen. Good app. Updated to iPhone 5, great! The update is amazing.

Great engine and lots of guidance for those who want to refresh (like me). This has helped me play the game and play better.

I have the other big name chess apps, including ones that cost twice as much, and this is the best one out right now. They all have great high ELO chess engines so you may be wondering that the difference is. The improvements are mainly in three areas. Visually, the flattened design looks much better than the out dated 3d pieces of the other apps, and the user interface is easy to use. Second, this app is still being updated. Some of the others havent been updated in a long time and so if you want to see who won a game played by M. Carlsen, you will be out of luck. And last, when I had a suggestion, the developer responded in about a day. Good luck getting the others to respond at all. I say support small developers and buy the app.

I use several chess apps and I really like the display on this one. Strong chess engine and plenty of features without unnecessary bloat. Three stand out in my opinion. One you can play online with FICS, two you can save, export and load pgn files and three analysis from pgn files is displayed (this is harder to find in other apps). Could be easy to spend twice as much on another app and get half the value and usability of this one. Look forward to use and updates!!

I have tried a great many apps and this one tops the list. I recommend any of Mr. Wongs chess apps. I even prefer this app on my tiny iPhone 5s over anything on my Nexus 7 including Shredder

Best app for playing chess on Fics. Love the user interface, attention to detail and the analysis engine. Thanks for making chess fun for me.

While using hotspot , screen is dislodged and it is not playable. Many apps handle hotspot correctly.

My former go to chess app, which I loved and played for many years, had tendency to crash then refuse to open every few weeks. I downloaded SmallChess Pro as an alternative and have been using it ever since. One of my favorite features is the coaching function, which is both flexible and very useful. It allows you to, among other things, evaluate three positions simultaneously in an overlay so that you don’t disturb the actual game board. In addition there are a number of add-on libraries which can be downloaded free of charge. On the negative side, I have yet to find a way to promote a pawn to anything other than a queen. It doesn’t happen often but I have seen positions where this option can mean the difference between stalemate and checkmate. There a number of features I haven’t explored but after playing SmallChess for a couple of weeks I feel comfortable giving it four stars ( I would give it it 4 1/2 if I could ). For my money these additions would make it a 5 star app: More flexible time controls, automatic adjustment to playing strength, and an option to randomize playing style. Even without the changes this is an excellent app and well worth the money!

This is by far the best chess app on Iphone i have found for both game analysis and playing against the computer. highly recommended.

Needs real-time engine analysis but is good.
